Betrayal Legacy – Game 3 Review

This is one in a series of posts regarding the board game Betrayal Legacy. You can access all my other Betrayal posts HERE. This post is a review of Game 3, which is designed to give you a feel for the game, whilst containing no spoilers. It assumes you are familiar with Betrayal at House on the Hill.

1763 …

Chapter 3 Card

The story continues in 1763 (the same year the Paris Treaty was signed, Google informed us). We played Game 3 immediately after Game 2, so we reset, adding new elements as instructed, and learned more about the new element added at the end of Game 2. Another Rule was stickered into the Rule Book, succinctly explaining the new benefit we could use, but only once per game. We had to purposefully remind ourselves later, because this once off mechanic slipped our mind.

The Haunt

No-one rolled the required roll on the first 3 Omen Tiles, and so when the Blue player revealed the 4th, we reached for the next card of the Legacy Deck to trigger the Haunt. He grabbed the 4th Omen and read its story as instructed. The Traitor was assigned by certain character traits, and by a coincidence, the Blue player had his first time as Traitor.

In this particular Haunt, it gave the Traitor a decent benefit that he had this particular Omen, and the Heroes did not have a lot of luck in searching Rooms for the things we needed. Another advantage was given to the Traitor through the layout of the house. During the game we maneuvered the Monster to the Room required for our win condition, which just so happened to be right next to the Room the Monster needed for its win condition. Game 3 ended giving the Traitor the first win of the Campaign, even though he actually sacrificed himself to help the Monster.

End of Game

The story resolved itself through the entry in the Bleak Journal, and we added new cards to the game. We were also instructed to destroyed our first Room Tile, highlighting again, just how unique we were making our version of the game. The players fates are under the spoiler tag below.

The Fates of our Players
  • Blue – Elyse Costanza, Now 53, Traitor, Died. “Saved my sweet baby boi”
  • Green – Charlie Griswold, 8, Not the Traitor, Survived, “Not so much with the Winning”
  • Purple – Charlie Manson, Now 67, Not the Traitor, Died. “Died to a sweet baby boy”
