This post has been edited, including replacing the 2 tables. I forgot that Sun made a 4th element, and so made Rainbow and Double Rainbow a breed possibility. I also had Midday in there as a possible breed, when actually it was only possible to be cloned. Thanks to Kristin who helped me see my mistakes. Shane (13th March, 2021)
The Magnolia dragon has been released, and is breedable with any combination that includes plant + sun. The sun dragon with the shortest breed time is Midday at 16 hours. It adds cold and lightning to the mix as a breeding substitute, so the two dragons with the shortest breed times are
Cactus + Midday
8.73 hours average fail time. 23 attempts for a 50/50 shot. Just 8.36 days to have an even money chance of breeding one.
Plant + Midday
Using an elder Plant dragon instead eliminates the extra short fails of the Cactus dragon, and so increases the average fail time to 9.27 hours. This makes 8.88 days for an even money shot, or an extra 12 hours of breed time.
Cloning a Magnolia Dragon
Magnolia has a very small cloning percentage of 1.5%. It also is a Seasonal dragon, and doesn’t have the necessary Sun element required for breeding. To combine the breed % with the Clone %, you would need to try and clone Magnolia with a Midday dragon. This would give the elements, Plant, Earth, Cold, Lightning and Light, and would eat into the percentage you gained by trying to clone and breed it at the same time.
Long story short, don’t try and clone one in the CBC. Breeding for one is a better option.
Testing Continues
So it turns out that regular dragons can be bred when the set percentages are above 100%. It was bought to my attention by Kristin at the Dragonvale Community forum. And since then I have bred some myself. It seems probable at this point that I must have been breeding them during my cloning attempts and just didn’t notice.
This shouldn’t affect the numbers I have quoted above for Magnolia, as there is less than 100% set percentage. But more testing is required to try and work out how those percentages work out.
