The first limited of the event has arrived. And it’s a treasure.
REGAL + GOLD
It has a specific breeding pair, so let’s get straight to it.
Gold + Regal shares plant, fire, water, air, metal & light. A lot of golden hybrids, limiteds and epics. The 4% breeding chance of Gawk drops to 2.38%. 29 attempts required for a break even chance of breeding one. And all those epics and long fails mean 14.39 hours average fail time. 17.38 days for a 50/50 shot at it. Breeding non-stop during the week it is available will give you a 25% chance of getting it. An upgraded cave, saving 20% breed time, will give you an extra 3 breeding attempts on average. This will increase your chance of breeding it in 1 week to 30%.
With plant & fire as possible elements, Poison becomes the best dragon to try and clone it.
Gawk + Poison
There is only a 1.5% chance of cloning, which is way smaller than we have become used to. 46 attempts required for a 50% shot. The average fail time drops to 12.47 hours. But even so, the time required for an even money shot is 23.9 days. 7 days breeding this pair in the CBC will give you a 20% chance of cloning it. This is less than the 25% chance you have of breeding it for a week, so cloning it is the second best option.
Breeding is Better than Cloning
With such a low chance of breeding and cloning, you need to be trying for the Gawk dragon in as many breeding caves as possible. If you have at least 2 instances of both Gold and Regal dragons, you can be breeding for it in the regular cave and the breeding island. If you have a 3rd of one of those dragons (or 2 of one them, and only 1 of the other) you should try and breed for Gawk in the CBC.
The only reason you should try and clone the Gawk dragon in the CBC is if you have exactly 1 Gold and 1 Regal or you have exactly 2 Golds and 2 Regals. Only in those 2 instances will you be using all your breeding dragons in the regular caves, and you will be forced to clone a Gawk with a Poison in the CBC.
