Chapter 2 – The Churches
Envelope 2 contains the things you need for Episodes/Games 4 to 6. Open it up when you are ready for Game 4. The information for the games is hidden behind spoiler tags below.
Each player gets 3 new Church tiles, from the included punch board. Sort the tiles by the matching player icon, and add their corresponding cards to the deck. These church tiles have a book and a number 3 on them. This detail is not important in game 4. Their are some church tiles with no icons on them. Set them aside till after the game.
Churches must be built. You cannot pass when a church card turns up. If you cannot build a church, then your part of the game is over and you cannot build anymore buildings.
There is also a blocking card that you add to the deck. When you reveal it during the game, you immediately play another card. The building you reveal immediately after the blocking card cannot be built, even if it is a church. Turn that building tile over.
Scoring for episode 4 is identical to episode 3. Add points for trees, groups of buildings, and if you managed to build 4 different buildings next to a well. Deduct points for passing, rocks and empty light green spaces. Colour in circles for the winner, and second place in a game of 3 or 4. Then each player gets an extra church building, its shape is dependent on how they placed in the game. The back of these 4th church buildings has an empty hexagon space, where each player can affix their icon sticker.
Shuffle the card for the 4th church building into the deck, for the remaining games.
A new rule is added in episode 5. If you construct a building of each colour adjacent to a church, that church scores 3 extra points. Each player has 4 churches and can now earn 12 additional points.
At the end of episode 5, you colour in 2 circles for the winner, and 1 for second place in a game of 3 or 4. The players that did not colour in a circle get a replacement sticker for one of their churches. This increases the score value of that church to 5, when you construct 3 different coloured buildings adjacent to it.
You apply the sticker to any of the 4 churches, so it is worth considering the different shapes. The smallest churches cover 2 squares and have only 6 spaces to connect with other buildings. The larger shapes have 8 spaces to connect with other buildings. The cross shape looks like it has more, because it has 12 sides. But each of the corners means 2 sides must touch an adjacent building, so it only has 8 connecting spaces as well.
Episode 6 plays has all the same rules as the previous 5, but you no longer have the ability to pass. You must construct every building that you reveal. At the point that you can not place a building tile, you are out of the episode.
Scoring for episode 6 is identical to episode 5. And again, the players that don’t colour in a circle during scoring, place a “5” sticker on one of their churches.

Episode 6 is the end of chapter 2. When you are ready to continue, open the envelope for Chapter 3: The Flood, which contains episodes 7 to 9.
