2019 was a pretty good year, all things considered. Played some good games, saw some good media, had some great times with family and friends. Here’s my top 10 highlights in chronological order. Only new experiences in my list, so only the first season of shows, and the first plays of a game were eligible.
10. January – Betrayal Legacy
My Legacy Game Group had its 12 month anniversary in January. It was a solid year of fun gaming, with people who answered my post on a Facebook page. We wrapped up Betrayal Legacy in January,
When thinking about a formula for my top 10 games of 2019, I knew it had to take into account both hours played and times played. In 2019 I played Sagrada 13 times for a total of 6 hours, and I played Terraforming Mars 4 times, for a total of 10 hours. It seems like simply adding the 2 numbers together would be a fair way to even out those two variables.
I then thought about adding in dollars spent on the game. But I couldn’t work out whether it should be an addition to the score, or a negative.
2019 – a Good Year for Gaming
I set myself 3 goals at the beginning of the year. The first was to play 365 games, to average more than 1 a day. I ended with 402, plays, and over 249 hours of non stop gaming, totaling about a week and a half of 2019 at the board game table. 117 of those were lunch time games at work, which turned out to be super important for my play time for the year.
