The Penultimate Event of 2021 is underway, with the obligatory 3 event dragons, that can only be cloned. From easiest to hardest, they are:
Razortail Dragon
The first one is a plant, metal opposite hybrid. This is the one type of pairing when a primary dragon can actually be a result. Therefore, it’s the one time when using a Plant dragon could be the right choice. 🙂
There is a 10% chance of cloning a Razortail dragon, so 7 attempts are needed for an even money chance of cloning one. With only a handful of results, mostly Plant (5 seconds) and Metal (8 hours), the average fail time is 4.17 hours. 7 attempts, at an average of 4.17 hours equals 29.19 hours. Which means 1.22 days until you have a 50/50 shot of cloning one.
Now I would normally post the numbers by adding fire into the mix. But only Poison and Flower would be shorter than the average fail time of 4.17 hours. And there is a whole lot more fails that are longer than that. Brass, Pepper, Smoulderbrush, Forge, etc. All the way up to Gold. The average fail time increases to 7.89 hours. So Razortail + Plant is the way to go.
Khamsin Dragon
The next dragon is an air, earth opposite Hybrid. Air and Earth are both 2 hour breed times, so either of those will work equally well.
It only has a 4% chance of cloning, so 17 attempts are needed for a 50/50 shot of cloning one. But with a 2 hour fail most of the time, from Air and Earth dragons, the average fail time drops down to 3.52 hours. This means 2.49 days till you reach that even money chance of cloning a Khamsin dragon.
Sow Dragon
The remaining event dragon has a 10% cloning chance, like Razortail, but it has a lot more elements in the mix. Plant, earth, cold and dark. The regular hybrid with the shortest breed time with those elements, is Lichen.
7 attempts for the 50/50 chance, but the average fail time is 12.84 hours. This means 3.74 days for the even money shot of cloning one. Using Forest instead of Lichen increases the average fail time to 13.04 hours, so Sow + Lichen will get you one faster.
